The numbers are in and it seems the iPod Touch dominated Christmas this holiday season. CrunchGear is reporting that:
“From November to December alone ad requests went up by 3.4 times. Extending the time frame to July (before the new iPod touch debuted) is even more impressive: ad requests went up by 16 times, from 18 million to 292 million.”
Add this to the number of apps sold and you end up with a huge boon for Apple. As an iPod Touch owner now (thanks, Santa) I can tell you this device is awesome. Not only is it a powerhouse when it comes to media consolidation but is nothing short of a distribution system for Apple. In fact, I’d go so far as to say this is the single reason the company developed the product. With one-click purchase ability of songs and applications there’s no better gadget for serving up instant gratification.
Alright, there’s no microphone or camera but I’m willing to sacrifice that in favor of not having to deal with a monthly contract. Besides, you can get headphones with a built in microphone (hello VoIP) and with the built-in wireless I can get online most places I’m at anyway. All in all, great device and I’ll soon share what apps I’ve become particularly fond of.
