So, there are some neato treats to be found regarding iTunes besides the DRM-fee people have to pay to un-DRM their current library. First and stupidest, the “Plus” moniker. Sounds like the same lame marketing gimmick Coke used with their new formula a couple decades ago. Just call it iTunes, Apple; adding “Plus” won’t make the aforementioned DRM fee any easier to swallow. Oh, and in case you’re wondering, I have to report on stuff like this now since I own an iPod Touch. No lie, I think they had something about it buried in the registration form.
Besides the new handle iTunes…sigh…Plus (oh, that was rough) offers the ability to create MP3 files from downloaded AAC tracks. Also, Apple buckled to industry pressure and introduced tiered pricing. Tracks will now be sold for $0.69 (69!…it’s called Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure…watch it), $0.99, and $1.29 respectively. There’s also some 3G music download stuff…but what do I care about that? I own a iPod Touch, not an iPhone.
