Pownce is No More

Pownce is closing shop. This will come as sad news to people using the service and I’m sure a boon for Twitter since it offers the same micro-blogging features at the price of free (Pownce offered free and paid services). Many will surely move to the more mainstream service. Sure, Twitter doesn’t have the built-in support for file-sharing that Pownce did, but there’s so many places one can do that these days it shouldn’t really be a problem for users to find alternatives. The Pownce team will be moving onto Six Apart. Good luck, Leah and gang!

Update: TechCrunch has a post with a lot more info on Pownce.
